Description Open standards for "smart infrastructure standardisation", e.g. how to configure home networks to comply with the specific requirements of applications

This building block is a hardware/software system equipped with additional sensors (e.g. GPS), which records passenger vehicle data over time and in relation to location via standardized vehicle interfaces (for example OBD) and transfers it to a cloud computing service via 3G/4G/5G, or via a smart phone paired through Bluetooth or connected via WLAN. Vehicle data is personal data. Therefore the building block has to enable a trustful provision of vehicle data from in-vehicle systems (ECU’s) to a wireless connection for third party service developers, which can be defined by the vehicle driver. It therefore includes a hardware-based switch to alter trust levels in order to assure that the vehicle driver keeps fully or partially ownership and/or control on data shared to the cloud.

Main output A single board computer to act as key player within a data logging system.
BB category SW component, HW component, Service
Baseline The baseline for this building block is a vehicle interface for OBD2 (On- Board Diagnostic), which has been developed in DEWI using a beagle bone black, a low cost, fan-less, single board computer as a demonstrator. This demonstrator can manage tethered CAN bus data and transmit it via a wireless mesh network (IEEE 802.11s) to the end-user, e.g. for the purpose of a wireless software update.

This demonstrator will be elaborated to sufficient the requirements of a trustable passenger vehicle data logging system for quantified car use cases.

Current TRL Single components for this building block from DEWI are available on on TRL 5.
Target TRL TRL 6-7 (verified in SCOTT use case)
