Infrastructure for TZ

The overall objective of this task is to bring the roll-out to Phase A villages. As defined in DigI:TT2.1, we have standardised on Mikrotik equipment for the pilot.

  1. Internet Link (RBSXTR&R11e-LTE) - 3G/4G modem with directive antenna
https://mikrotik.com/product/sxt_lte_kit The modem, mounted on an external mast, can enhance the reception by 20-25 dB as compared to a pedestrian, and thus either achieve connectivity or 3-double capacity (European price € 90)
  2. LNCC (RBD52G)
https://mikrotik.com/product/hap_ac2 a Dual-concurrent Access Point, that provides Wifi coverage for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies at the same time. Five 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports provide Gigabit connections for your wired devices, USB can be used for external storage or 4G/LTE modem, and device supports IPsec hardware acceleration. (European price € 50)
  3. Sector Antenna (RB921GS-5HPacD-15s) - directive transmitter for point to multipoint distribution
https://mikrotik.com/product/RB921GS-5HPacD-15S is coupled to the village server to serve secondary reception sites (European prices € 95)
  4. Point reception (RBSXTsq5nd) - doutdoor wireless device with an integrated antenna. Perfect for point to point links of up to 12 kilometers or as a CPE unit. It is compact, weatherproof and easy to mount.
    https://mikrotik.com/product/RBSXTsq5nD (European price € 32)
  5. Local Hot-Spot (RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD)
https://mikrotik.com/product/RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD a small weatherproof wireless access point. The device has one Gigabit Ethernet port, it supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless protocols and can work at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies simultaneously (European price € 58)
  6. LNCC (RB960)
https://mikrotik.com/product/RB960PGS a five port Gigabit Ethernet router. The device has a USB 2.0 port and a SFP port for adding optical fiber connectivity. It also supports passive PoE input and passive or 802.3af/at PoE output. Ethernet ports 2-5 can power other PoE capable devices with the same voltage as applied to the unit. (European price € 57)
  7. RB951
https://mikrotik.com/product/RB951G-2HnD a wireless SOHO Gigabit AP with a new generation Atheros CPU and more processing power. It has five Gigabit Ethernet ports, one USB 2.0 port and a high power 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n wireless AP with antennas built in. (European price € 32)

Note: the prices mentioned represented the market in Sep2018

Phase A Deployment

We have selected the 3 villages Izazi, Migoli and Esilalei for phase A deployment.

  1. Migoli

Three local hot-spots (including the health centre and the Nyerere school).

  1. Equipment includes:

- (1) Internet Link - (1) LNCC - (1) Sector Antenna - (3) Point Reception - (3) Local Hot-spot

  1. Izazi
  1. Esilalei
  • roll-out in 3 villages
  • 1-3 hot-spots per village
