Within different installations we have two main device types:

• Runcom CNOC
• Cisco ASA

Principle overview

List of elements available in Norway:

• CNOC: core device of Basic Internet, it provides the WiMAX interface and its management at the same time that manages all devices and users connected to the network, ensuring a predeterminate QoS and Internet connectivity.
• ASA1: interface between CNOC, Internet and other ASA devices distributed across the world. It gets traffic from various ASA-Africa via VPNs and forwards to the CNOC and the same time that protects the CNOC from external attacks.
• ASA2: interface between CNOC and end-users in Norway. It protects the CNOC from possible attacks from end-users.
• ASA-Africa: each one is equipped with a VSAT System. In order to provide service to end-users, they create a VPN to ASA1 which provides direct connectivity with CNOC.
• Application Server: directly connected to CNOC, it provides some necessary services to the CNOC such as AAA, DHCP, DNS, Billing, Management and Maintenance.

Roadmap

Basic Internet categorizes content into two types:

• Text and Images: free for everyone.
• Audio and Video: in exchange for a small fee.

Basically what this means is that depending on user subscription, free or paid, users will have a different Quality of Service (QoS). Thus, free subscriptions users will not be able to see or listen any video or audio in streaming, their connection speed will not be very high. However, is it necessary to block audio and video content for free users?
