Title | Refarming and other challenges for Mobile Communications |
Lecture date | 2013/04/18 14:00h |
presented | by Abul Kaosher, Rune Rækken |
Objective | This open seminar will talk about the challenges in the growth of the mobile network. While we currently have three network technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE), each of them being separated in a dedicated frequency band, there is an evident need for "refarming" to answer the upcoming traffic demand.
Refarming means providing access technologies like LTE in other frequency bands, e.g. 900 MHz. This will allow provision of broadband services also in rural areas, and offers a more flexible way of providing services. |
