Mum-Care Health App

Mum-CARE is a research project to develop and test a health app for smartphones for women who have recently undergone one or more pregnancy complications that are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in the long term. The project will start in the autumn of 2022 and is based on the National Guide to Obstetrics's' proposals for follow-up as well as the Norwegian Directorate of Health's general health recommendations.

The app will be available in Norwegian and English, and eventually in Urdu and Somali. The app will first be tested in a randomized controlled study at Oslo University Hospital (OUS) where a group of women after giving birth access to the app and a group does not. The project is led by Annetine Staff and Meryam Sugulle at the Women's Clinic, OUS. The women who are randomized to use the app will be reminded of the opportunity to follow their own health, e.g. register your own blood pressure using a study-distributed blood pressure monitor. All participants will be sent electronic questionnaires to assess the effects on health management as well as self-reporting of follow-up by a GP. UIO / ITS by Josef Noll will contribute with app development and technology and data security assessments. Researchers at OUS are responsible for the follow-up plans after birth as well as content and design in the app, ITS for implementation and programming of the technology.
