Abstract

EyeSaaS - Device Management and Insight

The talk will address the challenges of unreliable Wifi connections, and how managed access and Wifi-mesh networks can overcome the limitations. Current households and offices lack from unreliable Wifi connections. Attenuation by walls, interference, and devices at the edge restrict the throughput of a home network. Examples show that the network capacity reduces to less than 30% if devices are far away from the home access point. Typical solutions like Wifi extenders don't solve capacity problems.

The main challenge being addressed is high availability in the home IP network. Such high availability require a robust home infrastructure, as well as insight of the customers' situation and need. The requirements for ensured coverage and stability are addressed through a new generation of devices, supporting mesh-networking. To develop and deliver new services and improve service quality, ISPs must know their customers and their needs better. They also require managed access, which does not stop at the router, but takes into consideration the communication within the house.

The talk will provide an example of remote management of a home network consisting of three wireless mesh AirTies routers, and the remote management performed through the EyeSaaS service platform. It will also address future standards like TR-069, supporting the remote management.
