Abstract This course provides the basic theory of digital communications and the most common digital communications techniques.
Objective (max 350 words) The student should grasp the basic theory of digital communications and the most common digital communications techniques. They should obtain good understanding for the fundamental limitations in data rate and transmission quality in different communication systems.

This course, together with other courses within communication studies, should give a solid background for working with modern wireless communications systems at Norwegian telecommunication companies and for further Ph.D. studies.
