PhD research in Yeboo

Yeboo has plans to build up an academic ecosystem, connecting to us relavant international institutes, organize workshops and have at least 10 PhD educations ongoing in 2014. We have started to involve other professors (from our Center for Wireless Innovation Norway) and the Norwegian Business School (BI).

The reason is that we have many areas where PhD research might contribute successfully, e.g.

  • social sciences - the interaction between Yeboo, Facebook and how that influences the relationships
    • RECORD prosjekt http://www.recordproject.org/ - leader is Opinion - Asbjørn Følstad (SINTEF) - The researchers in the project are Jan Heim, Asbjørn Følstad, and Petter Brandtzæg from SINTEF, and Jonathan Romm, Jørn Knutsen, and Jon Olav Eikenes from AHO.
    • UiO, Tanja
    • Eirik Eskedal, BI
  • business sciences - new business models, and prosumer aspects, market trends
    • BI, NHO, NMH, ...
  • technology and web challenges - semantic search, reasoning,

Frederick: The most important thing to

  • investigate is current patterns and how to exploit them for social media for the real estate and classifieds markets.
  • Things like groupon for classifieds might also be interesting. Other than that, study of
  • how to increase conversion rates should be of focus, which involves user experience study as well as statistical analysis etc etc.

Kaja Deen is also preparing himself for a further career, and I would like to link you two together. He should understand the Yeboo, and become the head to interchange between the groups.

Thus, please help me in two areas

  • (i) how to get access to the Yeboo "dev" environment - or create a "dev" environment on yeboo.no
  • (ii) identify research topics - what is it that you think is worthwhile to consider?
  • (iii) identify collaboration Universities - any Universities/Professors which you would like to involve?
