Components of the JBV demo
The following nodes are included in the demonstrator (the detailed specifications can be found in the attachment below):
Most probably we will have different partners' platforms from the main contributors to be demonstrated independently by covering partners' goals in this project!
- Nano Node – GPS Module
- A 20 channel USB SiRF Star III GPS receiver
- Micro Node – Sun SPOT Sensor Platform
- Integrated sensors in the platform: temperature sensor, accelerometer sensor, light sensor
- Software: SUN SPOT JVM
- Personal Node - VIA Embedded Board
- VIA EPIA N700 is a compact, low heat, power-efficient Nano-ITX board
- Software: the implementation uses Ubuntu Linux Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic and Java runtime environment (JRE) 1.6 for development.
- M2M Platform - Telenor Shepherd® Platform
- a platform (named as Shepherd®) for interoperability and integration that supports communication between connected devices (nano and micro nodes) and makes them accessible from anywhere at anytime
- Software:
- Connectivity support: HTTP API, Connected Object Operating System (COOS)
iPhone location is used to have a better idea of the location.
- GPS location needs sky view, which is very limited inside the locomotive
- added iPhone, which has inbuilt functionality based on WLAN, GSM network and GPS location
- challenge: using physical events to harmonize positions and time stamps
- Implementation overview:
- A figure outlining the early demonstrator:
