Purpose
Information exchange between Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) and Basic Internet Foundation (BIF) on the common activities in SESA WP4, especially related to Energy and Information
Notes from the meeting
Baseline of the discussion was the presentation Integrated_Approach_for_School_Connectivity_2021/10/18, pointing out the need for an integrated approach for empowerment, including SDG 7.1 & 7.2, SDG 9.C and SDG 16.10 as building blocks.
Comments:
- while BasicInternet is focussing on rural, BTH has excellent experiences for the transition of cities to Smart Cities
- the building blocks mentioned above are equally applicable for SDG 11

School Connectivity | 18 October 2021 | Josef Noll |
We reached common understanding of Energy & Information as contributions to SESA Tasks 4.1 and 4.2
- the InfoSpots are described in BasicInternet:Solutions, inclusive the process of establishing the InfoSpot and configuration of devices
- Our starting point was the contribution to the UN High-Level Panel on Digital Co-operation, as well as discussions with the Government of Norway, resulting in access, skills, regulations and inclusion as drivers for Digital Transformation and Development Policy (see DigI:Publications#In_Media).
Energy Information
Basic Internet co-developed the http://Yeboo.com portal in the Non-discriminating Access for Digital Inclusion (DigI)project. Focus was on measuring health knowledge uptake. - Huge success, with knowledge increase of e.g. 60% for Cysticercosis (tapeworm), from 15% to 75%. Though, the platform is not scalable. Thus, we encourage a new platform development as part of the SESA-toolkit.
Starting points of the discussion might include
- the international initiative for digital transformation of Governments: http://GovStack.global
- discussions on the National Knowledge Portal
Examples are the health promotions in
- http://DigitalGlobalHealth.eu and
- implementations on the village servers http://Yeboo.com
