DigI project
Collaboration in the "Non-discriminating Access for Digital Inclusion" (DigI) project with Helena Ngowi (SUA), Flora Francis Kajuna (SUA), Bernard Ngowi (NIMR) , Felix Sukums (MUHAS), and Elibariki Mwakapeje (MoH)

Connectivity to remote villages
- Reaching out to remote villages, establishing InfoSpots with Health Information
- While mobile 3G mobile network reaches 7-9 km, our solution reaches out to more than 20 km, as demonstrated in Selela at the Serengeti
- Providing Internet Lite, the free access to information and premium access to broadband content
Uptake of Health Information

Sustainability of operations
See: Lessons learned and recommendation from DigI project, especially the collaboration with communities in establishing InfoSpots in villages. We have the request to connect another 80 villages now, based on the success of the DigI project. See DigI:Villages for an overview over our collaborations.
School Connectivity in TZ

National Knowledge Portal
Through the Digital Inclusion (DigI) project we have seen a tremendeous knowledge uptake through digital local information spots providing Digital Health, see http://Yeboo.com (community information spot - focus on health)
Thus, BasicInternet 2.0 focusses on the National Knowledge Portal, incorporating all four aspects needed for empowerment in the digital society:
- Access - building Information Spots in villages/communities with free access to information
- Skills - establishing a National Knowledge Portal with information on health, education, agriculture, financial inclusion and more
- Regulations - having free access to the National Knowledge Portal as part of the licence conditions is straightforward
- Inclusion - providing the free access to information is a first step, having tailored information for minorities and people with disabilities is a common demand.
Special focus is on sustainability, and a solution that addresses OPEX costs as little as 15-20 USD/month for the connectivity.
