SCOTT OBJECTIVES FOR TECHNOLOGY LINE DEVELOPMENTS - of Assessment of Technology

INTRODUCTION

The five industrial domains in SCOTT, building & Home/Smart infrastructure, Automotive, Aeronautics, Rail, and Health are
followed by the four technology lines, WP23: Security & Safety, WP24: Distributed Cloud Integration, WP25: Autonomy of Devices/Energy Efficiency of WSN, and WP26: Reference Architecture/Implementation. Moreover, the requirements in these TLs will be implemented by the technical building blocks which have common objectives from theoretical and technological perspectives. In Section 3 these objectives are extracted and harmonized. Section 4 discusses how each BB is following these objectives. And finally, Section 5 performs the assessment of these technology objectives by selecting 3 main objectives and discussion about the baseline, enhancements of the objective during SCOTT, its future vision in 2025 or 2030, and identification of hinders and required scientific, technological, standard or political advances.

OBJECTIVES FOR TECHNOLOGY LINE DEVELOPMENTS

The approach to identify the TL objectives with the extracted and horminized list of the objectives in BBs in different TLs is explained in this section.

Overall Methodology for Identification of SCOTT Technology Objectives

To extract the objectives, the methodology is considering details of BB specifications, their requirements, and expectation in different industrial domains in the higher categories of technology lines.

Objectives in WP23: Security & Safety

Security & Safet technology line includs 17 BBs. Specification detailes of the BBs in this TL is available at ‎[1]‎[2]. The analysis of these BBs shows the objectives depicted in Figure 1. The objectives are:

- Trust which is followed by:

  • BB23.C HW supported security mechanisms,[\b]
  • BB23.D Integrated Safety&Security Development,
  • BB23.P Spatial-based authorization and authentication, and
  • BB23.R Trust Anchor and Trust Indicators.

- Security Mechanism development or enhancement is focused by:

  • BB23.C HW supported security mechanisms,
  • BB23.F Out of Band Security,
  • BB23.G PHY layer security,
  • BB23.N SCOTT Security Library,
  • BB23.O Security Core - Identification, Authentication and Communication, and
  • BB23.P Spatial-based authorization and authentication.

- Real-time security is mainly focused by:

  • BB23.H Real-time Configuration of Secure Zones, and
  • BB23.L Routing and Scheduling for real-time WSN.

- Wireless Sensor Network is an objective in almost all BBs which might be not the main focus in BB23.B and BB23.Q.

- Reliability is an objective focused by:

  • BB23.K Reliable Wireless PHY and MAC,
  • BB23.M Safety WSN Adapter, and
  • BB23.J Reliable Wireless Multi-hop Communications.

- Quality of Service and Experience (QoS & QoE) will be provided through:

  • BB23.M Safety WSN Adapter,
  • BB23.J Reliable Wireless Multi-hop Communications,
  • BB23.A Dependable Wireless Sensor Network, and
  • BB23.B End-to-end assured QoE.

- Automotive applicabilities is considered by:

  • BB23.M Safety WSN Adapter,
  • BB23.Q Towards a Safe Virtual Coupling,
  • BB23.A Dependable Wireless Sensor Network,
  • BB23.F Out of Band Security,
  • BB23.G PHY layer security, and
  • BB23.I Reinforcement of safety for traffic infrastructures.

There are also some other objectives such as dependability or energy consumption in BB 23.A (Dependable Wireless Sensor Network), or hardware support in BB23.C (HW supported security mechanisms) or BB23.G (PHY layer security) which are not mainly focused by the other BBs in this TL.

Objectives in WP24: Distributed Cloud Integration

Distributed Cloud Integration is a TL in SCOTT which includes 12 BBs. Details of the BB specifications in this TL is available at ‎[3]‎[4]. The analysis of these BBs shows that they are following the objectives depicted in Figure 2. The objectives are:

- Trust followed by: • BB24.K Trustable Passenger Vehicle Data Logging System.
